Home Additions & Structural Work in Northern Virginia

From room additions to load-bearing changes, Cocell Contracting designs, permits, and builds additions across Northern Virginia under its own Virginia Class A licence #2705190343, with stamped engineering and licensed trade subcontractors working under our contract.

Additions touch structure, mechanicals, and the existing house at once

Adding square footage means foundation and framing work, tying new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical into the existing home, and matching the addition to what is already there. Structural changes need a stamped design from a Virginia-licensed engineer and a county building permit before anything is cut. We hold the prime contract and run the sequence — engineer, permit, foundation, frame, rough-ins by licensed trade subcontractors, then finishes — so the new space ties into the existing house on one schedule instead of four.

How the process works

We start with an on-site consultation, then develop a design and a detailed, line-item scope so you know exactly what is included. Once approved, we run the job through final inspection under our own supervision, with our licensed trade subcontractors on the mechanical work, written change orders before anything is added, and weekly progress updates with photos.

Additions & structural FAQs

Do you handle engineering and permits for additions?

Yes. Structural work needs a stamped design and a building permit. We bring in the engineer, file the permit, and manage the inspection schedule with your Virginia county or city — Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, and Prince William.

Can you remove a load-bearing wall?

Yes, with a stamped beam design and a permit. We arrange the engineering, pull the building permit, and carry out the shoring and the framing under our own contract.

Will the addition match my existing home?

We match roofing, siding, and finishes so the addition reads as part of the original house, not a bolt-on.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes — we provide a free on-site estimate with a line-item proposal. Book an appointment to get started.
